Stimulation current therapy (TENS)

TENS stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and is a gentle type of electrotherapy. TENS can be used for pain treatment, as long as there is no contraindications. The principle of pain therapy via TENS treatment is based on the influence of electrical impulses on the pain-conducting fibers. The stimulation current, which was generated by a stimulation device, blocks the conduction of the nerve fibers. One therapy session takes about 15 to 30 minutes.

TENS is used for:

  • Chronic headache syndrome

  • Back pain

  • Joint pain (arthralgia)

  • Nerve pain (neuralgia)

  • Phantom limb and stump pain

  • Postoperative pain syndrome
